Enjoy the snow and worry less about having the right gear for your next winter excursion. We offer a wide selection of gear that is available to rent in 24-hour periods, including:

  • Cookware and stove systems

  • Cross-country skis, boots, and poles (available separately or as a package)

  • GPS and satellite devices

  • Hok skis from Altai Skis

  • Hot tents for 3, 4, or 6 people

  • Pulk sleds/toboggans

  • Skijoring kits

  • Snowshoes

  • Trekking/hiking poles

  • Water filters

  • Winter sleeping bags, pads, and cots

Winter Updates (Last Updated 03-05-2024)

What a strange winter it has been! Due to the lack of snow this season we are coming to an early end to our canvas tent rentals. These tents require many guylines, which will be really hard to secure in our still somewhat frozen, rocky ground without snow to anchor in. Until conditions change, we are disabling online rental reservations for canvas tents. There may still be conditions (or locations) that would allow for a canvas tent rental. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

When can I pick up and drop off my rental items?

Rental items may be picked up anytime during regular business hours. To view current store hours, click here.

What if regular business hours don’t line up with my trip plans?

We can make alternate pick up and drop off arrangements as our staff schedules and availability allows. To see what options may be available to you, just give us a call before making your reservation at: 218-387-3136. There is a convenience fee of $50 for pick-ups or drop-offs outside of regular business hours.

What happens if I’m late when returning my rental items?

While we understand that things happen while on trip, we make our rental plans based on the start and stop dates that you provide when you create your reservation. Late returns could impact other groups, and will incur a late fee of 25% of the overall rental total per day that the items are delayed.

So if you were expected to return one pair of snowshoes from a 24-hour rental, and you don’t actually return them until two days later (an additional 48 hours) you would expect to pay for those two extra days and an additional $15.00 ($7.50 per day) plus any applicable taxes based on our current rental rate of $30.00 per 24-hour period.

What if my plans change and I need to cancel?

We get it! Canoe and hot tent reservations can be cancelled up to 2 weeks before your reservation starts. Cancellations within the 2 week period before the rental was set to begin aren’t eligible for any refunds. However, we are happy to work with you to move your reservation to a later time (within the same season) for no additional fee. All other items may be cancelled up to 2 days before your reservation. All refunds are subject to a cancellation fee of $12, which helps cover our transaction fees and set up time.

What if I don’t want to rent an item for 24-hours? Do you do half-day rentals?

Since our location requires at least a little bit of travel time to get to wherever you’ll be using your rental, it makes sense for us to structure them for a full 24 hours. Our current operating hours make half day rentals challenging. The good news for you is that you can get a little more bang for your buck with time over two calendar days.
