It’s great to see our friends again
By Jack Stone
We have now been open for a couple of weeks following our shut down for the coronavirus. I thought it would be a good time to bring all of you up to date.
First, I want to say how great it is to see all of our friends back. Yes, it is a pain to pull out those face masks and squirt a little hand sanitizer on your hands. Still, most of those who come into our store have a sense of humor about it, and we are going to make it through this challenging time. To those of you who have come in to see us: thank you, thank you, thank you.
When I opened the store over 10 years ago, one of the essential things in my mind was to offer unsurpassed customer service. Overall, I think we have done a fabulous job. Right now, we are going through a trying time, and all I can ask is for you to bear with us. The entire community, generally, and Stone Harbor specifically, are horribly understaffed. We have had to cut our hours back because of that. We have had phone calls roll over to voice mail. Some of you visiting the store have had to wait for one of us to come by so you can flag us down for help or to answer questions. This is unacceptable to our mission, but unfortunately, it is going to be a fact of life until we can get more help. Please hang in there as we are doing the best we can. The team needs to take breaks, go to the bathroom, or just get away for a moment. Someone will be with you as quickly as possible. Hopefully, we can soon increase our hours and get back to the customer service level we have always had.
And for those of you whom I have gotten to know over the past 10 years, I apologize that I have not been spending that much time downstairs. Yup, I am of that age that I need to step back and not get sick. It is hard to admit, but I have some of the health conditions that the doctors talk about, so I hang out in my office. But please remember that my door is always open and if you want to say hi, you are welcome to seek me out. Either I will come downstairs, or if you ask real nice, you can come upstairs and see the real reason I am in my office: the best view in town.
If you haven’t been here yet this year, please come visit us. And stay safe yourselves.
