The best weekend of the year for paddlers
We look forward to the North Shore Water Festival every year! It’s a weekend of paddling nirvana: Free paddling mini tours in the harbor. Free SUP yoga classes. Free music. Free vendor displays. Free book signing. We hold it the third weekend of July every year right here in Grand Marais. Come join in the fun.
Paddling Mini Tours
The Paddling Mini Tours are free. Take a mini tour of the Grand Marais Harbor on a paddle board or in a kayak. We bring in our favorite vendors and the latest gear for you to try. We also have plenty of experts to make sure you know the proper paddling techniques and how to stay safe. And yes, it all takes place right on Lake Superior.
Water Festival SUP yoga
Water Festival SUP yoga is free but the class size is limited. Yoga, stand up paddle boarding (SUP) and Gitchigami? Oh, we are so in! It doesn’t matter if you are an experienced yogi or paddle boarder, or if you are new to all of it — our SUP yoga offers a fun way to get your om on. Don’t let the added element of water scare you off — we’ve structured the class so beginners and experts alike can feel at peace. And the savasana at the end is pure bliss. Don’t know what savasana is? We’re not going to spoil it for you — just sign up to experience it for yourself.
Water Festival Music in Harbor Park
Harbor Park in Grand Marais is the perfect venue for Water Festival music! A summer festival wouldn’t be complete without music and we have a couple of the best local bands to help us celebrate Water Festival weekend. Stop by the park from 4:00 – 7:30 p.m. on Friday, July 16th, for Wild Mountain Thyme. Come back on Saturday. July 17th, from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. for Brotherless Arms.
Hudson Bay Bound Book Signing
Natalie Warren will be at Stone Harbor on Saturday, July 17th from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. to sign her new book, Hudson Bay Bound. Natalie Warren is a paddling adventurer, a motivator, and a story teller. That’s a perfect combination for our North Shore Water Festival Book Signing. Expect to laugh and cry and be amazed at the human spirit. Yes, it is the perfect book for the times in which we live.
