If you come in to talk to our outdoor experts at Stone Harbor, they can give you all sorts of great advice about camping. We put them on the spot, though, and asked them to each narrow their wisdom down to one really good camping tip. Here’s what they came up with:
Beth: Never pitch your tent on a dip in the ground. (You guessed it–Beth learned that one the hard way.)
Jack: Keep a clean camp site.
Chris: Hang your provisions.
Annette: Always have a plan B and a Plan C (especially in the BWCAW, where your favorite site may already be taken).
Nickie: Stay hydrated–almost all problems can be solved with water.
Scott: Bring a good headlamp.
Phil: Don’t bring too much.
Ann: When you are in the backcountry, always travel with people you trust.
Megan: Remember the bug spray.
Jan: Be creative with your food and bring more water than you think you need.
