It’s still winter here in Grand Marais

There is still lots of the winter season left up here in Grand Marais  and we can help you figure out what to do with it.

Cook County is home to some of the Midwest’s best cross country skiing and snowshoeing trails and they are in excellent condition right now. Check out The Pincushion Mountain TrailsBanadad Ski TrailMid-Gunflint TrailUpper Gunflint TrailCascade River TrailsBally Creek TrailsHall-Massie Ski Trails and Deer Yard Trails. If you want to bring your dog along, then head straight to the George Washington Pines Winter Recreation Trail.

If you are coming up to do some downhill skiing at Lutsen, we are not that far away. Stop by our clothing department to make sure you are set for spring skiing. On the other hand, if you prefer the gentle solitude of backcountry skiing, you can rent Marquette or HOK skis from us. As the weather continues to change, talk to our staff for recommendations on the safest places for touring the Northland.

If you have been following our entries you know we have been very busy this winter going to shows and putting on presentations.  We are continuing to do this for a few more weeks but we have to start getting ready for spring and summer.  We are in the midst of inventory and planning for our seasonal floor switch, bringing in the summer goods and moving out the winter goods.  There are quite a few items on sale, so be sure to check us out.

Where can you find us and what are we doing?  The weekend of March 23rd we are at the Playground Showdown at Lutsen Mountain.  Next, we have donated an adventure package to the Thunder Bay Nordic Trails Gala being held on Saturday April 9th (www.nordictrails-tb.on.ca/).  I am not sure if any of our staff will make it up for the dinner but it should be a great time supporting a great Nordic ski organization.

On Saturday April 20th, Linda Lemke will be at our store to demonstrate Nordic Walking poles by Leki.  At the end of April, we will once again be at Midwest Mountaineering for the annual Spring Expo the weekend of April 26th to 28th.  As you can see, we are still very active and hopefully you will be able to join us for one or more of these events.
