Joining up with a party that is already in the BWCAW: Remember that the trip leader (or the alternate trip leader specified when the reservation was made) must enter on the date of entry. All fees must be paid in full, including fees for the remainder of the party who are joining on the following day. When the rest of the group joins the next day, they will need a self-issue day use permit to do so, making sure that they reach their group so they are on a valid overnight permit. No one can stay at a different campsite on a self-issue permit. Need to get more information about BWCAW reservations? You can get the details here. Or come in and talk to us. Stone Harbor Wilderness Supply is a BWCAW Permit Issuing Station.
Portage wheels: Portage wheels or any mechanical assistance is permitted only in designated areas, and those areas are: International Boundary; Four-Mile Portage; Fall-Newton-Pipestone Bay or Back Bay Portages into Basswood Lake; Prairie Portage; and Vermillion-Trout Lake Portage.
